Click here to see an image showing the MESSAGE TRUNCATED error on my screen in the default (currently Beta) version of Gmail. I’m using Safari version 3.0.4 to access my Gmail account on a Mac running OS 10.4.11. Other browsers on other operating systems will produce different looks, but the functions should be the same. I have not found a way to get to the plain text using the Beta version... Oh wait, yes, I have. If you click on the arrow next to the “Reply” link, you will get a menu like this. Select “Show Original” and you will get the full message. I wrote the rest of this page before I found that, so I will leave it as an alternate path to the original source: if you click on “Older version” you get a screen that looks like this. You will need to open the message again, to re-see the MESSAGE TRUNCATED error, but once you’re back inside the message you can see a link to more options. Click on that to get the option to Show original. Once you do that, you will see something that looks like the text on the DML’s main Message Truncated page. Here is the original of the message we’ve been looking at. At the top is a bunch of generally uninteresting header information. If you scroll down, you will get to a place like what I’ve high-lighted here, the text of Guy’s message. If you haven’t seen enough yet, keep scrolling until you get to the MESSAGE TRUNCATED bit of the message. See... It’s all there...
Use your browser’s back button to take you back to the place from which you came...
