Our goal is to reveal the role of infectious diseases in ecosystems. The underlying theory driving our research examines trophic interactions (predator/prey, parasite/host) through distinct adaptive strategies (predators, micropredators, parasites, pathogens, parasitic castrators, parasitoids). Areas of research include evolutionary ecology of parasites, environmental parasitology, introduced marine pest biological control, food web ecology and community ecology.
Our research questions include:
How do parasites and pathogens affect ecosystems?
How can parasites serve as environmental bio-indicators?
How do infectious diseases impact fisheries and aquaculture industries?
How can biological control be applied to human infectious diseases?
