Head Shot

I am a theoretical evolutionary biologist. I started out working in behavioral ecology studying the evolution of mating systems, local adaptation, signalling, and sex ratio. More recently, I have focussed on problems that are related to the evolution of genetic interactions. I study how gene networks expand by gene duplication and how they are shaped by selection for genetic and environmental robustness. I am particularly interested in how gene networks evolve to cope with ecologically relevant variability.
