Area of Research
Phragmatopoma californica is a small marine tube worm that builds its home by cementing together sand grains and other debris found in the ocean water. The strong, water-proof cement has been characterized for the most part by the Waite Lab, and I am working towards chemically synthesizing a mimic that will help us better understand how this underwater glue works.
