Area of Research

My research interest has centered on characterizing a family of proteins, named the distal matrix proteins (DMPs), from the byssus of the marine mussels M. Galoprovinciallas. The DMPs undergo a spontaneous chemical modification upon secretion called deamidation and are potentially involved in the assembly and/or senescence of the byssal thread.
