August 2011: The National Institutes of Health awarded a "Research Supplement to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research" to Dr. Weimbs to support the research carried out by Annita Ngatchou, PhD.

April 2011: Annita Ngatchou-Weiss, PhD, joined the Weimbs lab as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Ngatchou-Weiss recently was awarded a PhD degree from Cornell University for her research on the function of SNAREs in membrane fusion. Welcome!

April 2011: Jacob Torres joined the Weimbs lab to conduct his PhD thesis research on mechanisms of polycystic kidney disease. Welcome!

March 2011: Congresswoman Lois Capps visits the Weimbs lab and leads a round-table discussion with professors, students and Dean Wiltzius to discuss the impact that the recently proposed drastic cuts in federal research funding would have on research at UCSB, education and the nation's future competitiveness (KEYT News | Noozhawk | Santa Barbara Independent).

March 2011: Susanne Kneringer joined the Weimbs lab to conduct research on polycystic kidney disease for her Bachelor's thesis. Ms. Kneringer is a student in the Bachelor study program in engineering, environmental and biotechnology at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI), (Innsbruck, Austria) University of Applied Sciences.
