MCDB Senior AwardsThe 2007 Graduating Seniors and Student Awards ReceptionThe Robert L. Sinsheimer Award in Molecular BiologyThis award was initiated in 1997 through the generosity of Professor Robert Sinsheimer, a distinguished Biochemist and Molecular Biologist and former University of California Chancellor, to recognize the graduating seniors in the department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology with the highest academic performances in the core courses of the specialized Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology majors.
The Jean Devlin Memorial Award in PharmacologyAwarded to the graduating senior in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology with the highest overall academic performance in the core courses of the Pharmacology Major. This award was initiated in memory of Jean Devlin, a Pharmacologist who was instrumental in the development of the Pharmacology Major at UCSB, the first such major in the nation.
The Cancer Federation ScholarshipEstablished in 1985 by the Cancer Federation, this award is given to an undergraduate senior in the field of microbiology or immunology or to a pre-med student interested in the area of oncology.
MCDB Distinction in the MajorFor outstanding undergraduate research. Individual departments and programs in the College of Letters and Science grant this academic award to students of departmental honors programs who complete a senior honors project or thesis with distinction.
The Stipanich Undergraduate 2007 Summer Research Scholar AwardThis award was initiated in 2002 through the generosity of the Stipanich Family, whose son graduated with a Biology Degree at UCSB. It is awarded to MCDB undergraduate students who carry out summer research with a MCDB Faculty member.
Outstanding Senior Biology Peer Advisor (Interdepartmental Award)For excellence in peer advising undergraduate biology major students
The Thomas More Storke Award (College of Letters and Science Award)The campus's highest student honor, the Thomas More Storke Award is awarded each year to one graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship and extraordinary service to the University, its students, and the community. The basic criteria are courage, persistence, and achievement.
The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate ResearchThis award is presented by UCSB Chancellor Henry Yang to an outstanding graduating senior with distinction as an undergraduate researcher.
