Dear Pam,

Can you send this out to EEMB students? We extended the deadline on our
program to make the applicant pool more competitive.

Thanks!

Sustainability Ambassadors Program
LAST CHANCE TO APPLY
DEADLINE Extended to Saturday, October 11th, 2008

UCSB's Associate Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services, Ron Cortez will
be offering a new opportunity for students to become "UCSB Sustainability
Ambassadors". As an ambassador, you will provide sustainability leadership
to the campus and receive training from professionals throughout the Santa
Barbara community on public speaking, professionalism, green business, and
sustainability both as a broad context and specifically as it relates to
your campus leadership role within protecting our natural resources.

Sustainability Ambassadors will be required to attend monthly training
seminars and to help promote sustainability on campus and in the community
by preparing and giving presentations on UCSB's sustainability efforts.
This will give students the chance to practice their speaking skills, build
their resume, prepare for a career after graduation, and to network in the
community. The program is recommended both for students new to
sustainability, as well as students who are performing other internships
related to sustainability.

To be accepted into the program, you must be able to attend group trainings
on Fridays from 1-2pm from October 2008-May 2009 (Trainings will be twice a
month). Work outside of the trainings will mostly consist of preparing and
giving presentations and practicing your public speaking. You may have up
to 1-2hrs of additional work per week.

To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to Katie Maynard
kmaynard at geog.ucsb.edu by October 11th, 2008 and specify in the email that
you are applying for the Sustainability Ambassadors Program. Questions
about the program may also be directed towards Katie.
