Undergraduate volunteers needed for fate and transport of nanoparticles
in environmental media

The Keller Laboratory at the UCSB Bren School of Environmental Science
and Management is seeking 1 -- 2 highly motivated undergraduate
volunteers *to start in August 2010*. The students will be working on a
project to study the fate and transport of engineered nanoparticles in
different environmental media, using state of the art analytical
instrumentation. The work will be primarily experimental, and the
student(s) will be expected to prepare solutions and suspensions and to
prepare starting materials, using basic lab equipment such as a pH meter
and a analytical balance, while keeping good records of the experimental
work. Students should be able to commit to regular scheduled hours (a
minimum of 8 hours per week). Students might be required to attend lab
group meetings and to be assigned relevant scientific literature search.
There is the possibility of earning research credits, doing an
independent honors project, or financial retribution as a lab assistant
based on individual performance during the probationary period. We
prefer sophomores and/or juniors majoring in
chemistry/biochemistry/chemical engineering/environmental science with a
GPA of 3.4 or higher, and who are familiar with analytical and wet
chemistry.

Interested undergraduates please e-mail a resume (listing the chemistry
coursework taken / in progress), and the questionnaire below to Milka
Montes at mmontes at bren.ucsb.edu <mailto:mmontes at bren.ucsb.edu>. Selected
candidates will be contacted for an interview. Thank you!

Please complete the following questionnaire and e-mail it along with
