*Habitat Restoration Internships--Coal Oil Point Reserve:*

Coal Oil Point Reserve has several paid habitat restoration
internships available for Spring Quarter 2011. Interns will work with
the reserve steward, a restoration biologist, other interns and
volunteers assisting with restoring native wetland and coastal sage
scrub habitats. One of the project sites is managed by Audubon,
improving the buffers around a freshwater pond and a vernal pool. Job
duties will include: plant propagation, seed collection, invasive weed
control, planting natives, ecological monitoring and general site
maintenance- watering, mulching and weeding. The internship requires 33
hour commitment; generally 3 hours/week on either Tues OR Friday
mornings, and occasional Saturday workdays (April 9th, and May 14th).
Interns receive a $300 stipend upon successful completion of the
internship by June 3rd.

Applicant must be a UCSB student and must be available on Tues OR
Friday mornings from 9am-12noon, beginning the first week of classes.
Previous restoration experience and knowledge of native plants and
restoration ecology is a plus, but not necessary. Positions are funded
by the Coastal Fund.

To apply send resume and class schedule/time availability for Spring
Quarter to Tara Longwell at longwell at lifesci.ucsb.edu, and Darlene
