L&S Honors Programs
Students in the L&S Honors Program will find many opportunities in biology for enrichment of their educational experience. The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology sponsors a year-long Honors Forum for freshmen which offers Biology Premajors of all interests a challenging introduction to different aspects of biology. Students are guided to appreciate the broad opportunities for research that exist at UCSB and are encouraged to participate in formal and informal faculty seminars and laboratory meetings. Honors students also enroll in the special honors section available in conjunction with the introductory course sequence in biology. Here they are further stimulated by faculty in small group settings, participate in supplementary field trips, and explore areas of faculty research in more detail. The upper division Honors Program presents an opportunity for honors students to enroll in special honors sections in some upper division courses and tailor honors contracts appropriate for their interests in others.
